PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, August 6, 2009 – Trinidad and Tobago is officially in a recession, based on figures released by the country’s Central Bank.

No statistics for the second quarter of the year have been yet given but the Central Bank said the economy declined by 3.3 per cent in the first quarter of this year, following on from a 1.1 per cent drop in the last quarter of 2008.
