Residents of St. Helena will not be the only beneficiaries when the Bailey bridge is completely installed as commuters who use the road to get from Kelly Village to Piarco, often to avoid traffic congestion, will benefit.
Mr. Warner said: "It was imported from England as is and we are paying $23.9 million for its arrival, its manufacture and installation. So in completion it will cost $23.9 million. The road itself will cost $59 million so what we have done here is spend 82.7 million on this project."
The bridge which is 250 feet in length or 683 metres will take one month to be completely installed. Minister Warner is hopeful that the new bridge will be opened in time for Christmas.
