MINISTER in the Office of the Prime Minister, Colin Partap, said the Opposition PNM owes some $600,000 to State-run Caribbean New Media Group (CNMG) for advertising and coverage in the 2010 general election. His bombshell came as he answered a question in the Senate on Tuesday posed by Opposition Senator Terrence Deyalsingh who asked about the Government’s plans for CNMG including its staffing levels.
Partap said since its founding in 2005, CNMG had been funded by taxpayers to the tune of $235 million. “More than $6 million is owed by advertisers from as far back to the company’s early months of operation, including $1.1 million by Government Ministries, State companies and State agencies, and statutory bodies,” he said. “Mr President, the People’s National Movement owes $600,000 for advertising and the coverage of political rallies for the 2010 general election.”
