| NIDCO wrote highway contractor day after election By Andre Bagoo Sunday, January 30 2011 ONE DAY after the May 24 General Election, before a new Cabinet was sworn-in, the National Infrastructure Development Company (NIDCO) wrote the Brazilian company Construtora OAS indicating that the company was the preferred contractor for a billion-dollar Point Fortin Highway project. As the PNM Cabinet transitioned out of office, NIDCO, for unclear reasons, wrote the firm signalling that its proposal for the project had found favour. At the time, Works and Transport Minister Colm Imbert was on his way out of office. The current minister, Jack Warner, was not yet appointed. The former chairman of NIDCO was Keisha Ince, who famously appeared on a PNM political platform for a meeting of the PNM’s Women’s League at St James during the party’s May 24, 2010, General Election campaign. http://newsday.co.tt/politics/0,134905.html | |
