The Truth about SAUTT, OPVs, BLIMP

For the past 4 years the PNM mantra has been SAUTT, OPVs, BLIMP, going from TV station to TV station, Radio station to Radio station, Parliament, to the Hills and Valleys preaching how the PP Gov’t has dismantled all their crime fighting apparatus hence the reason for the high crime rate.

Let me take this opportunity to deal with that once and for all.

1. SAUTT was not a legal constituted body therefore whatever evidence they gathered could not have been used in a court of law. As a matter of fact, lest we forget, SAUTT was illegally spying on innocent citizens.

2. The OPVs, the offshore patrol vessels was never here and was never part of the PNM crime fighting apparatus, so to claim the cancellation of the OPVs is the reason for high crime is ludicrous. How can you claim success for something that was never in operation!

3. The BLIMP, the $50 million dollars Blimp was grounded most of the times, so much so that it forced former junior National Security Minister Fitzgerald Hinds to say he believe it can work on the ground.

4. Let’s agree for argument sake that SAUTT and the BLIMP was “successful” crime fighting measures, SAUTT was formed in 2003, and the BLIMP was purchased in 2005. How come in the peak of their operation in 2008 the country recorded its highest ever murder rate, 550.

5. FACT, what are the Facts, according to the TTPS records there were over 20,000 serious crimes committed for the period Jan 01 – Dec 31, 2009. Compare to 12,000 for Jan 01 – Dec 31, 2013. MURDERS for the period Jan 01 – Dec 31, 2009, 509. Compare to 405 for Jan 01 – Dec 31, 2013.

The facts shows that the crime rate was much higher when the PNM crime fighting apparatus was intact than it is now therefore their argument that dismantling their crime fighting apparatus is the cause for the “high crime rate” is totally false, fabricated and design to bamboozled the public.

TRUTH: Section 34 was supported by ALL PNM members of parliament
TRUTH: Reshmi was hired by PNM
TRUTH: LifeSport was created to assist at risk youths in PNM Neglected Constituencies

TRUTH: There would have been no Section 34 if PNM hadn’t supported it.
TRUTH: There would have been no Reshmi if PNM hadn’t hired her to spy on innocent citizens
TRUTH: There would have been no LifeSport if PNM hadn’t created ghettos and community leaders
